Transport - To The Shelter
The shelter can be reached by road or air travel. The capital of Greece is Athens and this would be the main airport used by International travellers worldwide.  A useful website to find the cheapest flight is

The Castle:  The city’s Castle with its Clock is directly connected with the city and it is also Trikala’s trademark. It was built by Ioustinianos, an Emperor of Byzantium and apart from the Clock featured inside its walls there is an open theatre and a restaurant-bar.

Asklipieio: The ruins of eminent Asklipieio of the ancient city “Trikki”.  They are found in the centre of Trikala. It is the surgery of the Father of Medicine, Asklipios, who´s statue you can see in a bridge near there.

Trikala Zoo: The zoo is situated near the castle in Trikala and is home to many animals.

Varousi: Nearby the Castle, is the medieval district of Trikala city called Varousi which impressive with beautiful architecture and the nice houses. You can also walk in Varousi and enjoy its small streets.

Litheos: Is the river that crosses the Trikala city. There is also a beautiful Central Bridge, which until 1996 was used by both vehicles and people, but today it is only used by people.

The Koursoum Pane: In the southern entrance of the city there is the Koursoum Pane, built by the famous architect Sinan-Pasa. It was restored in 1996 from the Municipality of Trikala with financing by European Union. It is a building protected by UNESCO.

The Mill of Matsopoulos Industrial Monument: Is where flour and spaghetti was first produced Greece.

In Kalambaka (20km away from Trikala): Perhaps one of the most impressive geological phenomena on earth, Meteora rocks, offspring of large river deposits (possibly Aliakmon) in Cenozoic century (60 million years BC). This is place is also famous for rock climbing.

In Kalambaka (20km away from Trikala): On the steep bare tops of the meteora rocks is the state of Eastern Orthodox asceticism. Twenty-four monasteries where once there now only seven remain and attract thousands of visitors.
